Chemical Additives Company Sales Literature
Wins National Design Award

OCTOBER 15, 2002 — A corporate capabilities pocket folder and literature package for Dover Chemical Corporation won national honors for collateral materials design in the Graphic Design: USA 2002 competition. Dover’s agency, Corky Thacker Communications, Inc., provided concepts, copywriting, and production supervision, and worked with Gina Bartlett of Concord, Ohio-based SiD Studios, who created the winning design.

A nationwide panel of judges from design firms, advertising agencies, and corporate design departments selected Dover’s collateral package as a winner from 10,000 entries. Fewer than 10 percent of entries were named as winners. The annual competition was sponsored by Graphic Design magazine.

“The initial task was to create a concept that would communicate Dover’s benefits to three key markets with a unified graphic identity,” says agency president Corky Thacker. “The response they’ve received from product ads using the same approach told me we had been successful, and this award just confirms that.”

Dover, Ohio-based Dover Chemical Corporation manufactures chemical additives that increase performance of plastics, rubber, paint and coatings, and metalworking fluids. The company sells its products in the U.S. and Canada from its headquarters location and to the rest of the world through its New York-based parent company, ICC Industries Inc. The winning literature package is comprised of a six-page corporate capabilities pocket folder, three product brochures, and six technical bulletins. Designs incorporate laboratory photos and performance data as well as photos illustrating end-use applications.
